Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Review

I discovered Jeffree star 2 years ago through social media and fell in love with his YouTube channel. I then stumbled across his makeup collection which has grown extensively throughout the years I have known it.

Let me jump right into it, his liquid lipsticks are unlike most liquid lipsticks you find in the drug store or high end. These retail for £16 each and the formula is very unique and amazing. The are liquidy when you apply it making it easy to apply and then they dry matte and stays put all day if you clear away from oily foods. These are much different to say the Estée Lauder matte lipsticks as those are mousy and don’t stay put and also the sleek and maybelline liquid mates are also very mousy and don’t dry matte like Jeffree star. One important note on Jeffree Star’s liquid lipstick is that they are not drying if your lips aren’t dry to start off with. I have swatched the colours I have purchased and I will review then each as the formula is sometimes different from one colour to the next. Also the scent of these lipsticks are nice and the limited edition ones differ for example his summer ones smell like watermelon.

This is the first colour, posh spice. Let’s just start off with the names, they are unique and well placed for the colour. Posh spice is a grey nude colour, I wouldn’t recommend this colour to anyone who is darker than me as it will look like concealer so you can use it to mix in with other colours (I will mention later on what couloirs I mix it with). It aplies really well and not transparent or streaky. One coat is enough as it covers everything and is applied evenly. I don’t bother carrying this couloir around with me because this one just doesn’t budge. This is easily one of my favourite colours from Jeffree Stars collection and I would rate it 9/10.

This next colour is called celebrity skin, the perfect nude pink colour. This one is the perfect shade for an every day colour or to match it with a smokey eye, you can glam it up by mixing it with androgyny (I will mention in more detail when searching androgyny) and this one also applies really nicely and evenly. I would recommend this colour to everyone as its one of those colours that you need in your makeup collection a versatile colour. I would rate this a 10/10.

This next colour called virginity is part of Jeffree stars limited edition summer collection and let me start off by saying it doesn’t look like his picture of this colour. It is meant to be lilac but when applied onto the lips it’s a very bright white pink with lilac undertones which still suits me however this colour is very different and the allocation and formula is also very different. I am going to start off by saying it’s very streaky when applied at first it a second coat fixes that however if you make the second coat too thick it becomes sticky and never really dries down properly so keep that in mind. Also this needs a pipkin we preferably one that is slightly darker as this colour blends with your skin colour making your lips look much smaller. I would recommend this colour to people who like experimenting or are very pale or really dark. I rate this colour 5/10.

This next colour is called androgyny, it’s a purple pinky colour. This swatch is completely different to how it looks on my lips. This colour is much more purple and darker when applied to my lips which is also very pretty but I would’ve preferred it to look like the swatch. This colour apllies evenly and nicely and with this one because it’s dark you need to carry this colour with you as when you at the inside starts to fade. I would mix celebrity skin with androgyny to make it a lighter pink purple much like the swatch so if you like the swatch then mix it with celebrity skin or posh spice. One thing I am impressed with Jeffree star is that  they don’t crack they fade from the inside giving an ombré look which is really nice incomparison to Kylie Jenner.  I rate this a 7/10 only because it doesn’t look like the colour when swatched.

This next Colour is called watermelon soda and is part of his limited edition summer collection. This is a bright pink with red undertones and is a perfect summer shade. This colour is however quotes sheer when you apply is so you need to apply one coat and wait for that one to dry then apply your second for the best results. It applies uneven but a second layer fixes that and this colour is really pretty and would suite everyone. I rate this colour a 7/10.

This colour is called jawbreaker. Can we just appreciate the name of this lipstick and the colour payoff. This is a very unique colour and it’s very pretty it also makes your teeth whiter. However this needs two layers for it to be full coverage as it goes on a bit streaky so apply the first layer then wait for it to dry and apply your second layer. I also feel like if you don’t stretch your lips to apply it there will be cracks where you skin is showing so smile when you apply this product. Overall this colour is amazing and I can’t wait to wear it at a festival or Halloween. This will be amazing on all skin colours and it sure will grasp people’s attention. I would rate this product a 8/10.

This next colour is called dominatrix and it’s extremely pigmented. This colour is a dark brown almost black when applied to the lips therefore I mix posh spice with it to make it a little bit lighter so more like the swatch. I would be careful when apllying this colour because it’s difficult to remove. This colour will suite all skin types. This one is a little less watery when applying it and you need to reapplying after eating because it starts to remove from the inside. I would rate this product a 9/10.

This final colour my favourite, unicorn blood. This is a rush dark red with no purple undertones (thank god). This is the best shade that Jeffree star has created and it took me 2 months to get my hands on and it was worth it. This is the perfect dark red for all occasions and this colour suits all skin colours and I would recommend this to everyone also the formula for this one is amazing it applies evenly and verypigmented on the first swipe. I rate this one a 10/10.

Overall Jeffree stars colours are very unique and worth it. The products are hard to get as they are almost always out of stock. For those who live in the UK buy them off of beautybay.com free delivery and no need to pay custom fees.

Rimmel Kate Moss 107-review

kate moss rimmel 107 1.jpg

This is a drugstore lipstick that exceeds the expectation. It has high pigmentation as well as it wears extremely well. This lipstick cost £5.99 which is great considering the product is fantastic.

This lipstick, Rimmel Kate Moss in the shade 107 is a deep red even though it looks as though it will have a purple undertone, it is intact a deep cherry colour that suites all skin types. It glides on evenly however I find that when it wears away the outer corner are the first to fade. However it takes a long while until it fades so 1-2 touch ups throughout the day would be enough. It is suitable for the winter and spring time. This product is definitely worth the £5.99 however from the same collection there are much prettier colours for example the 110 which is a bright red/pink that is gorgeous and suits all skin types.

This was a short review because there isn’t much to say about this product other than it is a must have in your makeup bag, maybe not this colour specifically, all colours in that range are beautiful so find the one that works best with your skin colour. This product receives a 5/5 because it is a great product that is cheap and will change your makeup game.

Man in the Mushroom Mask-Review

maninthemushroom_zps5riqfmzn

Let me start by saying that this product just smells amazing which is always a plus, personally I think it smells like chocolate but not rich chocolate. Anyway as I have acne prone skin that is oily and dry at the same time (basically I am not blessed with good skin) so I am always on the pursue to find those can’t live without products that don’t cost a fortune. This was one of them. This product is also exclusive to Oxford street lush as far as I am aware.

I use a lot of products at the same time and my skin lately has been looking great, but I never know what in my beauty regime is doing the magic and once I ran out of the man in the mushroom (love the name) my face just wasn’t the same and I felt the difference within days of me no longer using it. This product made my skin feel so soft once I rinsed it off after having it on for 10 mins and the redness in my face which I get around spots, places of irritation or because my face is just red all the time for no apparent reason, this seemed to be the best solution as my redness was minimal after using it. It contains African honey, jojoba oil, oyster mushrooms and avocado help to soften, hydrate and condition the skin, whilst turmeric powder brightens the complexion of your skin. This mask is so refreshing once you put it on your face because its so cold (most masks from lush must be stored in a fridge).

After I ran out I went to purchase more and the were out and instead gave me the sample version and this happened 4 times which just highlights how popular this face mask is, I still haven’t been able to repurchase but I have been receiving a lot of free samples because of this (don’t get me wrong I am not complaining anything that says free I am all for it). This product deserves a 5/5 because it does exactly what it says it does and I love it you won’t regret purchasing this product, and its also the same price as all lush’s fresh face masks, £6.95 and it’s also non vegan in case anyone was wondering.

Rimmel Lasting finish+ Match Perfection-review

102_0721
This review will be covering two drugstore foundations. Personally I haven’t been a fan of Rimmel as their foundations have pink undertones which doesn’t match my skin tone. However, I thought to give these two a try after using Rimmel wake me up (made me look orange and caked, but the concealer is to die for). I have been putting these two to the test for the past 2 months and have finally come to conclude that Rimmel match perfection is better than the Lasting finish.

Let me start by telling you about the Lasting finish, it is high coverage which is a plus for be as I have blemishes and acne, however it had pink undertones and I have yellow undertones and they didn’t have yellow undertones for my colour even though they have 11 colours to choose from. It is a build-able foundation and blends good, but because I have dry skin, I found that at the end of the day around my mouth area and chin, my skin began to flake off. I thought it was due to the cold weather as I live in London, so I thought to try it again. At the beginning of the day the foundation looks good (i.e it doesn’t look cakey), bearing in mind I wear foundation from 7am till around 5.30pm so that’s around 10 and a half hours a day and this foundation claims it stays for 25 hours. Again the foundation began to make my skin crack around my mouth area, I was literally peeling my skin off, however the rest of my face stayed as it was (I didn’t use a setting spray but I dusted a bit of powder over it). In conclusion this foundation is a no no from me not only because it has pink undertones (I couldn’t find yellow undertones) but because its not suitable for dry skin in my opinion. I give it a 3/5 because it is high coverage and just because it didn’t suit me it doesn’t mean it won’t suit you.

Now for the Rimmel Match Perfection, this is a great product and I would highly recommend for all skin types, it wears well and it doesn’t patch throughout the day. Unlike the Lasting Finish, it has yellow undertones which suit me, and this is a light to medium coverage foundation which is buildable. I always set my foundation with either an Estee Lauder Lucidity translucent Pressed Powder or the Rimmel stay matte powder (I will be doing reviews on both) and it does last all day, it looks flawless and not cakey and blends okay and lasts throughout the day. This foundation has 12 shades which is fantastic as they go darker than the other foundation. All in all I give this foundation a 4/5 as its not the best foundation from the drugstore because it requires a few minutes of patting with a beauty blender.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner-Review

maybelline-gel-eyeliner-01
Before I start this review I would like to say if you are a beginner you may find this difficult at first however once you get the hang of it you will never stop using this gel liner. Also if you would like me to do a tutorial using pictures and steps then please comment if so :).

I have always been on the hunt for the perfect liner, I found the perfect liquid liner then BAM! Next thing you know its discontinued. Emotionally wrecked and unstable I began splashing cash here and there till I stumbled across this, the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. I had read some reviews which were mostly positive so I thought to give it a shot. Let me tell you this I hated it the first time I tried because I had never tried gel liner before but I watched a few tutorials that use this liner and seriously my life has changed for the better.

I am not going to go on about how much I love this product, instead I am going to tell you why. It lasts all day, I wear it from 7am until 6pm and it doesn’t budge (but it will if you keep touching your eye area) it is jet black and easy to control and i can get that sharp winged eyeliner that slays all people. I have gotten so many compliments when I wear this liner and have brought it for a few friends and they love it. I purchased the matt version (unknowingly) and it looks amazing, it doesn’t flake away at all like some liquid or gel liners and it gives you a precise and defined line.

Its £7.99 which is a great price for the amount of product you receive, the only down side is that it dries out before you finish it. The packaging is amazing it comes in a small glass pot and a brush. However the brush I use for this is the real techniques liner brush only because it’s thinner but I tried the brush they provide and it gets the work done. (If I do a tutorial I will use the brush provided).

All in all this is a great product and I have repurchased several times and in different colours, they have green, blue, purple, black with gold glitter, black with silver glitter, shiny back and matt black, so there is a colour for everyone. I give this product a 4/5 only because it dries to quickly. All in all it is a fantastic product and I highly recommend.

Maybelline brow satin-review

images

I have been searching for the best brow pencil/gel/mascara/powder and I still haven’t found it.

Even though the maybelline brow satin exceeds my expectation it’s not perfect, it gets the job done and looks good however with only 4 colours to select from you are limited. I went for the dark brown and it’s not that dark, in fact its not dark brown it’s actually just brown. Even though the colour selection is limited, as a drugstore product it’s an amazing product. For £5.99 you get one end that is a waxy sort of pencil that resembles Anastasia Beverly Hills but for less than half the price! On the other side it has a sponge which contains powder that you swipe over your eyebrows to give it a more full look. The main concern with this is the sponge is quite thick so towards the end of my eyebrow it over lines my eyebrow which I don’t like which results in me wiping around my eyebrow. I neglect to use that side because I find it useless and prefer the pencil.

All in all it is a great drugstore product that does what it says but I would have preferred if they swapped the sponge powder side for eyebrow wax to tame the eyebrow which would have been a lot better.

If they had a wider range of colour selection then I would’ve rated this product higher as the dark brown doesn’t match my dark brown eyebrows, its too light.

I give this product a 3.5/5.

Mask of Magnaminty- Lush

Lush has always been a favourite of mine, they have something for everyone and most of the products I have purchased were amazing. Mask of Magnaminty was amazing.

The minty scent was a bit too strong bearing in mind it has to stay on your face 5-10 minutes depending on how many times a week you use it so it does get overwhelming, however this product has stopped me from breaking out. I have acne prone skin which is dry in some areas and then oily in other parts, this mask was great. I wouldn’t say it was the best mask from lush but it’s definitely up there in my top 10. At first I used the mask 4-5 times a week so I kept it on for 5 minutes each time and when i would wash it off with lukewarm water it would leave my face feeling fresh and soft.

This mask is meant to act in the same way as toothpaste which most people with acne prone skin have definitely tried, but it’s not as harsh. Mask of Magnaminty is a deep cleansing face and back mask. China clay and fresh peppermints are key ingredients that help unclog your pores. It contains aduki beans to exfoliate flaky or dry skin and this is very effective as my dry patches haven’t been as severe which is a miracle since it’s winter. the vanilla absolute calms redness and honey is to soothe the skin.

The product lasted me a good 2-3 months as I had purchased the 315g which was £9.95, considering the amount of product you receive that is a bargain.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a deep cleansing mask as it is relatively cheap in comparison to other face masks.
